The National tour of the Award-winning musical 1776 is about to take place this year with a line of star-studded cast members. America’s Got Talent season 16 finalist Brooke Simpson is one of the singers of the highly anticipated event. Simpson also did incredibly well with her run in The Voice, finishing as the second runner-up of season 13.
Brooke Simpson is Going on Tour with the Musical 1776
Following its limited Broadway run at the American Airlines Theatre, 1776 will begin a nationwide tour on February 11 at the Stanley Performing Arts Center in Utica, New York. Among the touring cast is none other than the AGT finalist who previously graced the stage and wowed viewers with her powerful vocals.
Simpson is from Hollister, North Carolina, home to the small tribe of Haliwa-Saponi people, but she now lives in Los Angeles. Her amazing ability to sing allowed her to do incredibly well on AGT and The Voice, leaving behind unforgettable performances.
Speaking about the current Broadway revival of 1776, Simpson credits directors Diane Paulus, and Jeffrey Page for handling the musical to the best of their abilities. The musical depicts the founding fathers of the USA as they prepare to sign the Declaration of Independence.
“They wanted to make sure that we’re handled with the most care and love and the sacredness that it requires,” Simpson said.
Simpson will be playing as the courier this time, which was previously by Salome Smith, who will be giving the founding father the indigenous medallions to wear. With all of the care and attention paid to honoring the company’s histories and identities, dealing with the difficult story of the United States’ foundation has never been this entertaining.
Simpson Has Proven That She Can Hit Some of The Highest Notes Live
During her many performances on stage, Simpson can never shied away from belting out even the highest notes of a song. A good example of this is when Simpson sang Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You” as her husband Ray played on the piano. The judges watched in awe, especially when she hit the high notes.
Simpson’s vocal abilities were first noticed by the public after her Blind Audition on Season 13 of NBC’s The Voice. The coaches gave her performance of Demi Lovato’s “Stone Cold” a four-chair turn, including Miley Cyrus, who she picked as her mentor. Simpson eventually finished third that season.
Simpson released a couple songs after her success on The Voice, but she revealed in an Instagram post one week before her AGT debut that she had finished a full-length album in Nashville.
