If you’re looking for proof that you should never give up on your dreams, we’ve got a few BGT acts to show you. These contestants were rejected or didn’t make it as far as they wanted, but they came back to try again.

In one case, the choice to return to the stage ended in victory. Check out these inspiring BGT acts below, and let it be the motivation you need to get back in the saddle.

Gatis Kandis

This stand-up comedian, originally from Latvia, first auditioned for BGT Series 5. He returned for Series 6, and made it through to the semifinals despite an awkward audition. He then returned for Series 10. Simon called his weird jokes “rubbish,” but they still made him laugh, and he called Gatis “the only comedian I’ve ever found funny.” Gatis didn’t end up winning the competition, but he posts regularly on YouTube these days.

David J. Watson

Talk about perseverance! This performer holds the record for most auditions in Got Talent history. He’s returned time and time again, to the point where the BGT judges actually recognize him when he walks out. He’s performed impressions, magic tricks, and more. One year, he popped out of a box as the Incredible Hulk. Another year, he ate chili peppers. He’s continually rejected, but in Series 13 he received the Golden Buzzer from Britain’s Got More Talent host Stephen Mulhern. (Sadly, it didn’t count.)

George Sampson

This young break dancer first auditioned in Series 1. He made it through his audition, but didn’t advance to the live shows. However, George didn’t give up, and returned the next year to try again. (In the time between, he raised money by dancing on the streets of Manchester.) This time, it paid off, and he ended up winning the competition. He returned for BGT: The Champions earlier this year, after sustaining a back injury that could have ended his career.
