The Voice Season 30 returned on Monday night for another episode of Battles. During the show, Adam Levine stole an artist from Queen Latifah’s team. This is the third time a coach has stolen one of Latifah’s artists this season.
Adam Levine Steals Queen Latifah’s Artist on The Voice
Monday’s new episode of The Voice Season 30 began with a Battle on Queen Latifah’s team, as Brandon Diaz went up against Bryan Jaymes to sing “As” by Stevie Wonder. The coaches were wowed by both artists, with Kelly Clarkson saying they should form a duo.
“That was fire!” Latifah told the singers after their Battle, pointing out that it is not an easy song to sing. She joked that she was hoping one of them would mess up so she would have an easier time choosing between them. After much consideration, Latifah chose Bryan as the winner.
However, it wasn’t the end of the road for Brandon, as coach Adam Levine pressed his button to steal him for his own team. This marks the third time this season that an artist on Team Queen has been stolen by another coach, as Clarkson and Riley Green already stole artists from her team earlier in the Battles.
Another notable Battle from Monday’s new episode of The Voice came when Riley Green paired up Harmony McKee and Allie Rae, who had become friends during their tiem on the show. They performed “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers. Green ultimately chose Allie Rae as the Battle winner.
Monday’s new episode of The Voice ended with a Battle on Team Kelly between 13-year-old Brianna Cameron and Iranian singer Saade. They performed “Mercy” by Duffy. Queen Latifah loved how Brianna owned the stage at her young age.
Clarkson was impressed by both artists, praising their stage presence. She reassured Saade, who had a slip-up during the performance, that what really mattered was that she kept going. Ultimately, Clarkson chose Brianna as the Battle winner, meaning Saade was unfortunately eliminated. Clarkson pointed out that Brianna seems to thrive under pressure, which will serve her well going forward.
During Monday’s show, Clarkson also paired up Kyle Davis and Matthew Chiu to sing “Take Me Home” by Phil Collins. Although Adam Levine said he would choose Kyle as the Battle winner, he called Matthew the “most improved player.”
Clarkson admitted that this was the “hardest Battle yet,” complimenting the “special sauce” in Kyle’s voice while saying Matthew’s performance “felt soulful.” Ultimately, she chose to keep Kyle on her team, which meant that Matthew was sadly eliminated.
Adam Levine Keeps Four-Chair Turn on His Team
Adam Levine also had two Battles during Monday’s new episode of The Voice. First, he paired Owen Uffens and Wade Turner on a duet of “Dive” by Ed Sheeran. Queen Latifah said she was glad she didn’t have to choose between them.
Levine, however, did have to make a decision about which artist to keep on his team. He ultimately chose Owen as the Battle winner, despite the fact that he briefly forgot the song lyrics. Levine admitted that the same thing has happened to him in the past.
Later in the episode, Levine paired up his artists Amanda Mikkel and Julia Clark. Amanda was a four-chair turn in her Blind Audition, and Levine used his “First In” button to claim her for his team. The two artists performed “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley.
Levine said he could sense the singers’ nerves and vowed to work on that moving forward. He ultimately chose to keep Amanda on his team, meaning Julia was unfortunately eliminated.
