Dancing With the Stars returned to ABC and Disney+ for the highly anticipated Mariah Carey night. After beginning the night with a message from the singer herself, the competition was back in full swing. Ahead of the episode, many were hoping to see Savannah Banana Jackson Olsen be eliminated. Here’s everything that happened in the episode.
Ezra Frech, Daniella Karagach Stand Out with Impressive Rumba
Kicking off the night was Summer House alum Ciara Miller and her partner Brandon Armstrong. Together, they performed a jazz to “Emotions,” they earned 21 out of 30 points. Ezra Frech and Daniella Karagach then returned to the ballroom with a Rumba to “Anytime You Need a Friend” that earned 24 out of 30 points. The judges admitted that Ezra had the perfect frame for his partner. He’s only been in the competition for four weeks and is already being called a leading man, and being complimented on his technique.
Up next was Harry Shum Jr. and Jenna Johnson who danced a Tango to “It’s Like That.” Ironically, Harry was actually one of the dancers in the original music video for this Carey song. They earned a 24 out of 30 on this performance.
After last week’s critiques, Jenna Dewan was clearly frustrated because she was told she was “pushing too hard,” when in reality she was trying to prove she wanted to be on the stage. This week, Jenna and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, took their Rumba to “My All” as a chance to dial back the intensity. Instead, they focused on leaning into Jenna’s femininity. They earned 24 out of 30 points for this performance.

Guillermo Rodriguez Doesn’t Really Dance a Samba, But Dances a Samba
Tyler Cameron returned to the ballroom with a Foxtrot to “#Beautiful.” Judges were impressed with he and Sharna Burgess for their “proper” Foxtrot, full of content. They earned 21 out of 30 points for this performance. After them, Traitors stars Maura Higgins and Mark Ballas returned for a waltz to “If It’s Over.” Carrie Ann Inaba admitted that she teared up during the performance because it was just so beautiful. They earned 25 out of 30 points for this dance, earning the first 9 of the season from Carrie Ann.
Guillermo Rodriguez and Witney Carson returned with a Samba that had us “Obsessed.” Their samba to the hit song wasn’t really a samba, but judges still enjoyed Guillermo being a free-spirit in the ballroom. Even though their dance wasn’t technically a samba, they earned 13 out of 30 points.
Up next was Savannah Banana Jackson Olson and partner Emma Slater. Together, they performed a Waltz to “Without You” and earned 21 out of 30 points. Following their performance, Tatyana Ali and Jan Ravnik performed a jazz to “Fantasy.” They earned 20 out of 30 points for this performance.
