Lionel Richie has unfortunately landed in the hospital again. The 77 year old singer is currently recovering from a routine heart procedure. The next three shows in his Sing Along All Night tour with Earth, Wind and Fire have officially been canceled.
Lionel Richie Undergoes Routine Heart Procedure
American Idol judge Lionel Richie has once again found himself battling for his health while on his Sing Along All Night tour. The 77 year old recently underwent a routine heart procedure after experiencing multiple dizzy spells while performing on tour.
“Lionel underwent a common procedure for Atrial fibrillation (AFib),” Richie’s rep said to E! News. “The doctor said everything went perfectly. Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon.”

Richie is now recovering from the Atrial Fibrillation surgery. This type of surgery is not considered a major procedure. According to TMZ, the procedure is minimally invasive using tiny scars in the heart to block faulty electrical signals and help restore a normal rhythm. Recovery for this type of procedure typically lasts one to two weeks, so his anticipated shows in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus, Ohio have now officially been canceled.
He Previously Checked Himself into a Hospital
At the end of August, Richie checked himself into the ICU after his St. Louis, Missouri concert. After his performance at The Muny in Forest Park, Richie voluntarily checked himself in to have tests run. At the time, it was said that the American Idol judge was being cautious about his health. It was also revealed that doctors were looking into slight dehydration as the issue.
During the concert, witnesses told TMZ that Richie appeared to be struggling at the end of the show. He even asked to sit down while performing his final song of the night. In June, Richie had been transported to the hospital after experiencing a dizzy spell on stage.

He cut his set at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota short after saying he felt “dizzy” and “strange.” It was in this concert that Richie introduced a seated portion of the show. Afterwards, Earth, Wind, and Fire commented on the singer, saying he had fallen ill due to dehydration.
