America’s Got Talent returns to NBC on Tuesday June 23 with the next set of contestants taking the stage for the first time. Among the contestants is one that has auditioned on a different show. Here’s everything to know about singer Mackenzie Sol.
Mackenzie Sol’s audition was shared early, ahead of Tuesday night’s episode. On the show, he sings “back to friends” by Sombr and earns Mel B’s Golden Buzzer. Be sure to tune into America’s Got Talent at 8 p.m. So you don’t miss a minute of the competition!
American Idol Alum Mackenzie Sol Auditions for America’s Got Talent
Set to audition in the newest episode of America’s Got Talent is American Idol alum Mackenzie Sol. On American Idol, Mackenzie competed at the age of 23 in 2024. In his audition, he sang “Bring It on Home to Me” by Sam Cooke.
In this American Idol audition, Mackenzie explained that he comes from a musical family and has been surrounded by music his entire life. As a social media influencer, he rose to prominence through kitchen, prank-like videos. He wanted to prove that he’s more than just a prankster on social media.
He earned “three yeses” from all of the American Idoljudges, then went on to the Hollywood Round. In that round, Mackenzie sang “Changes” by Black Sabbath and the Joe Cocker version of “With a Little Help from My Friends” by The Beatles. His final judgement song was “Jealous” by Labrinth.
In the Top 24 (Hawaii Round) Mackenzie was mentored by Jelly Roll and sang “Jealous” by Nick Jonas. He continued into the Top 20, where he sang “I’ll Never Love Again” from A Star is Born, by Lady Gaga (w/ Bradley Cooper). Unfortunately, he was eliminated after this round.
Since appearing on American Idol nearly two years ago, Mackenzie has continued to pursue music on social media. He now has 1.8 million followers on Instagram, 12.1 million followers on TikTok and 2.51 million subscribers on YouTube.
In the past two years, he’s released a slew of songs, including “Graduation,” “You’re Still Mine,” “H8 December,” “Happy ever after all,” “Can’t Sleep,” “Other Side,” “Anxiety,” and more. According to Spotify, Mackenzie has 27,477 monthly listeners.
