America’s Got Talent Season 21 is set to premiere on NBC June 2, and this year’s competition will reportedly feature a new round called Judges Callbacks. This will give certain acts a second chance to prove themselves to the judges.
America’s Got Talent Introduces New Round
According to NBC Insider, the new Judges Callbacks round on America’s Got Talent will take place after the auditions — during which a total of 10 Golden Buzzers will be awarded, with two per judge and two for host Terry Crews.
As the panel (Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell) decides which of the acts who made it through the audition round should move on to the live shows, a group of select acts will be invited to perform again, competing for the remaining spots.
NBC did not specify exactly how many acts will compete in the Judges Callbacks round. It sounds like it might be a shortened version of the former Judge Cuts round, which used to span multiple episodes and feature guest judges alongside the regular panelists.
America’s Got Talent Season 21 will officially kick off on Tuesday, June 2, at 8/7c on NBC. Two-hour audition episodes will air every Tuesday night for the first several weeks of the competition, before the live shows begin on Tuesday, August 18.
Live performance episodes will air on Tuesday nights, while results from the overnight vote will air the following Wednesday nights. This schedule will continue through the show’s finale. New episodes will also be available for fans to stream the following day on Peacock.
