The Voice is currently airing Season 28 of the show on NBC. A change in this season’s schedule has meant that in recent weeks, the show has only been airing for one hour on Mondays. Some fans online think the episodes have felt rushed as a result.

The Voice Fans Think This Season Feels ‘Rushed’

Earlier this week, a fan on Reddit shared their disappointment that during the Season 28 Knockouts round, the show has not made sure to “give the flowers to the performer who doesn’t make it forward,” adding, “It feels so weird they don’t do a whole ‘thank you so much’ and play them off like in previous seasons.”

Other fans agreed, with one user writing that the season has felt “very rushed.” Someone else blamed it on “limited screen time,” adding, “These 1 hour weekly episodes f*cking suck.” Another fan wrote, “It’s a time crunch thing. The ads pay the bills so they come first.”

Fans also complained about the addition of the “Mic Drop” during the Knockouts, which gives artists a chance to perform in the 2026 Rose Parade. The same fan who complained about the season feeling rushed added, “And the Mic Drop for the Rose Bowl made it even worse ’cause the poor person not going through is still on stage.”

Another fan agreed, writing, “I was thinking the same thing. It’s bad enough they didn’t move forward and now here is a second thing. Though I think the Mic Drop is dumb anyway.”

Why Did the Show’s Schedule Change?

In previous seasons, The Voice has aired longer episodes multiple times per week. Season 28 started out this way, before moving into one episode per week, on Monday nights. To shorten the air time even more, each new episode is now only one hour.

According to American Songwriter, this change has to do with NBC’s coverage of the current NBA season. As the network tried to work the games into the schedule alongside new episodes of its original programming, The Voice had to be shrunken to fit.

Season 28 will continue to air Monday nights at 9/8c for the foreseeable future, as the Knockouts are due to wrap up next week before heading into the Playoffs. What do you think about this season’s schedule? Do the episodes feel rushed? Let us know in the comments below.
