Katy Perry Is Going to Space on Jeff Bezos’ Next Blue Origin Mission

Former American Idol judge Katy Perry is taking her career to new heights, as she’s set to travel into space on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ next Blue Origin mission. The all-female mission will also include CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, among others.
Katy Perry Is Going into Space on Jeff Bezos’ Next Mission
Variety reports that Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company, is sending several famous women into space on its next flight later this year. Along with Katy Perry, the NS-31 mission will include Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, Bezos’ fiancée.
They will be joined by aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, as well as civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and movie producer Kerianne Flynn. A statement from Blue Origin said that Sánchez is “honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth, empower them to share their own stories, and create lasting impact that will inspire generations to come.”
King announced her involvement during CBS Mornings on Thursday, saying she’s “terrified and excited at the same time.” The launch will reportedly take place sometime this spring, although an exact date has yet to be announced.
“Katy is honored to be a part of Blue Origin’s first all-female crew and hopes her journey encourages her daughter and others to reach for the stars, literally and figuratively,” Blue Origin said in a statement.
