‘Dancing with the Stars’ Hair Metal Night Ends with a Double Elimination
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Dancing with the Stars Season 33 returned on Tuesday for Hair Metal Night, with Gene Simmons as a guest judge. The remaining 11 couples performed their second dance of the week, and the show ended with a double elimination. Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Roberts went home, bringing the number of couples down to 9.
Dancing with the Stars Returns for Hair Metal Night
After Monday’s Soul Train Night, Chandler Kinney and her partner Brandon Armstrong were at the top of the leaderboard. Their dance on Tuesday brought them down a few points, but it was still great. The pair danced a Jive to “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by Twisted Sister, earning a score of 33 out of 40.
The real star of Tuesday night’s show was Joey Graziadei, who danced a Tango with his partner Jenna Johnson to “Rock You Like a Hurricane” by Scorpions. Judge Derek Hough said it was one of the best Tangos he’s ever seen from a male celebrity. The pair earned a score of 36 out of 40, putting their two-night combined score at 70 out of 80 — the highest out of everyone.
Tied with Chandler and Brandon on Tuesday’s show were Brooks Nader and her partner Gleb Savchenko, who raised eyebrows with their raunchy Cha Cha to “Nothin’ But a Good Time” by Poison. They scored a 33 out of 40, with Bruno Tonioli saying Brooks was “improved all the way” from Monday’s dance. Gene Simmons even tried to give them a 10, but the show stuck with his original choice of a 9.

Who Was Eliminated?
The lowest score of Tuesday night’s show went to Reginald VelJohnson and his partner Emma Slater, who received a 21 out of 40 for their Cha Cha to “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister. The second-lowest went to Eric Roberts and his partner Britt Stewart, who earned a 22 for their Paso Doble to “Cherry Pie” by Warrant.
So it didn’t come as much of a surprise at the end of the night, when Reginald and Eric were announced as the two celebrities eliminated from the competition. The results were determined by considering the judges’ scores and votes from viewers over the two-night period.
Other couples who received lower scores on Tuesday’s show included Ilona Maher and her partner Alan Bersten, who earned a 26 for their Jive to “Cum on Feel the Noize” by Quiet Riot. Ilona got emotional over the fact that she messed up some of the routine, but she was safe at the end of the night.
Also receiving a 26 on Tuesday were Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy, who danced a Paso Doble to “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi. Simmons went rogue and gave them a score of 5, while the other judges opted for 7. That gave them a combined score of 26.
