Former Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd was involved in a multi-car accident in Los Angeles on Monday. Her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy posted about the incident on Instagram stories, assuring fans that Murgatroyd is OK.
Peta Murgatroyd Involved in Car Accident
On Monday, Chmerkovskiy took to Instagram stories to share the aftermath of the car accident, which appeared to involve four cars. The couple’s car was apparently hit from behind and in turn hit the car in front of it. The car that hit their car was apparently hit by yet another car.
It wasn’t clear whether Chmerkovskiy was with Murgatroyd in the car, or if he joined her afterward. However, he made it clear that Murgatroyd was unharmed, adding, “Everybody’s fine.” Murgatroyd seemed shaken up, saying, “I’m OK. I have some sort of f*cking whiplash.”
The couple has three children — 7-year-old Shai, 1-year-old Rio, and 3-month-old Milan — but it doesn’t look like any of them were in the car when the accident happened.
In the next clip Chmerkovskiy posted, he was picking up a rental car to drive while their car is in the shop. He showed off a minivan, saying he was thinking about surprising Murgatroyd with it. He didn’t follow up about it, so it’s not clear if he chose that car.

The Couple Recently Announced a YouTube Series
Recently, Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy announced that they would be releasing a series about their lives on YouTube, called The Maks & Peta Show. It will premiere this Friday, September 13, at 6 p.m. PT. Fans can subscribe to their YouTube channel to stay up to date.
The couple said on Instagram that this will be “the most intimate look into our family life as we let the cameras into our home.” The teaser for the series shows that it was filmed when Murgatroyd was pregnant with their third child.
Fans who were hoping to see Murgatroyd back on Dancing with the Stars this season will have to wait a little longer. She was not announced as part of the cast for Season 33, and she explained on social media that it was “too soon” after giving birth for her to be back in the ballroom.
