‘American Idol’ Fans Are Obsessed With Scotty McCreery’s Elvis Presley Cover

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery recently released a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Santa Claus Is Back In Town.” Upon hearing rendition, fans were quick to praise McCreery’s vocals.
Scotty McCreery Performs Amazing “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” Rendition
Scotty McCreery has treated fans with an Elvis Presley rendition, while casually sitting on a cut tree and wearing a flannel. This cover was created in collaboration with Country Music Television (CMT) as part of their Campfire Sessions series.
“If you know anything about me, you know I love Christmas and I love Christmas music,” he said in the beginning of the video. “I mean on the bus, backstage, at home, it is constant. I love it. And something I love even more than that, is Elvis Christmas music.”
During this performance, the country star is jamming alongside two guitarists, they’re all around a bonfire. McCreery presents a new, refreshing take on this Presley classic. “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” has been a Christmas classic since 1957. While the original track remains to be a timeless piece, McCreery’s acoustic rendition is definitely not one to ignore.
This rendition is truly a full circle moment for McCreery, since he sang the late superstar’s 1954 hit track, “That’s All Right, Mama” on American Idol. It’s clear that McCreery still has the same love and appreciation for Presley.
Fans Are Loving This New Cover
Right after CMT uploaded the song on their YouTube channel, fans didn’t hesitate to send their kind words. Furthermore, some fans reflected on McCreery’s American Idol journey.
“This is why I voted for him and why he IS the only country artist I listen too!” a fan wrote. “Sooooo talented Scotty!!! Underrated. We need to change that.”
Many fans were cheering McCreery in the comments, saying that his voice fits the song. One Elvis fan also streamed his cover and got impressed by the country star.
“Excellent rendition, Scotty! Thank you from this lifelong Elvis fan!” one user wrote.
Aside from the cover, McCreery also released Same Truck: The Deluxe Album, putting out six additional brand-new cuts. With this album comes “It Matters To Her” music video where he shared his journey to fatherhood.
