First Ever ‘American Song Contest’ Winner AleXa Says Finale Was “Very Emotional”

AleXa representing the state of Oklahoma has been crowned as the first ever winner of American Song Contest. Since the singer’s monumental win, she has appeared at many events, including the Billboard Music Awards.
K pop artist AleXa brought home the first ever American Song Contest grand prize. The artist took home the title of America’s next hit song with her single “Wonderland” and its several high intensity performances. Following her win, iHeartRadio pledged to play her winning song all summer.
Soon after her win, she was featured as part of Kelly Clarkson’s talk show. Within the show, AleXa explained how it truly felt to win the series after the tight competition.
“It was just so emotional because my mom, my dad was there. My team all the way from Korea was there as well,” AleXa said. “We had someone from Germany fly in from our team, it was just very emotional.”
Since winning American Song Contest, AleXa appeared as a presenter at the Billboard Music Awards and as the national anthem singer at a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. The singer shared multiple photos on social media from these events. At this time, she has not shared what her next move in the industry will be.
American Song Contest Brought the Unexpected Out of the U.S. States and Territories
This brand new show sought to find the country’s next hit song out of the U.S. states and territories. With each state and territory represented by one artist, there was all types of music shown on the national stage. Since each participant had prior experience of some type within their genre, the competition was tight.
“Even from when just the qualifier episode started everybody had their own little, flavor their own spice to them. It was kind of hard to choose you know, who could win. Everybody could, it was anybody’s game honestly,” AleXa said.
AleXa’s monumental win exceeded expectations, she proved that you don’t always know what is coming out of each state. Even The Voice coach Blake Shelton didn’t expect to see a K pop artist represent the state of Oklahoma on the series.
American Song Contest brought in total of 1.811 million viewers per episode in its inaugural season. NBC has yet to announce the fate of the series, but many fans are hoping to see it renewed.
