‘The Voice’ Standout Artists that Were Brushed over in Battle Rounds

Reading Time: 2 minutes

I get it, not everyone on The Voice can get tons of air time on national television. But some artists were such a huge part of blind auditions, and were barely highlighted during the battle rounds. The best part of the battle rounds is seeing how artists have improved since their mentoring with the coaches, when they’re aired. How come some acts aren’t given as much time as others?

Jim and Sasha Allen Remain on Team Ariana

This group was a stand-out during blind auditions when they shared their story with the world. The father-son act took the hearts of many when they auditioned with “Leaving on a Jet Plane” by John Denver. People absolutely loved them in the blind auditions. I was so shocked when their battle song was so short.

Jim and Sasha battled against Sophia Bromberg, who was heavily criticized for hitting a whistle tone in front of Ariana Grande. Unfortunately, the way that this segment of the show was edited hints that the opponents of the standouts had no chance to win. It feels unfair, but I’m also happy to see Jim and Sasha in the competition still.

Holly Forbes Remains on Team Kelly

The same thing happened with Holly Forbes’s battle with Wyatt Michael. Holly was a huge name following her audition where she sang “Rocket Man” by Elton John. Wyatt, on the other hand, was known for his timeless voice. Both artists were known for singing classics for their auditions, so it’s no surprise that they were paired together in the battle rounds.

From what we saw in the short clip shared, it seemed like they both brought their “A game” to the stage. But I wish we could have seen more. I feel like the competition was actually a lot closer than this short video has shown off. It feels unfair that these artists weren’t given a fair chance on national television.

Just like Jim and Sasha, I’m definitely happy to see Holly on the stage again, but I really want to see what Kelly’s coaching has done for this already amazing artist.

I’m disappointed that we’re not able to see what the coaches taught these signers. Although this might be a game technique, it feels like when America’s Got Talent held judge deliberations off camera. You’re not fully sure who is left after the battle rounds, so you have to get reacquainted with the group of singers.
