The Maroon 5 singer, 42, appeared in-person on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday where he cracked some jokes about objecting to the wedding of his former fellow The Voice judges, who got engaged last October.
Adam Levine Objects to Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s Marriage
Levine was on to mark the 3,000th episode of the the The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week. He was a guest in the very first season of the show where he made his first daytime television debut. While on the show Levine also spoke about what quarantine has been like with his two young daughters, and described his new leg tattoo.
He also shared thoughts on pals Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship. Levine joked that he’s not a fan of their engagement. Levine was a coach on The Voice last season with the lovebirds.
“I don’t support their marriage,†he said, joking that he might raise his hand and object to their union on their wedding day.
“She’s so cool and he’s not,” he continued.
In defense of the country singer, Shelton, DeGeneres says, “He’s not cool, but he’s very funny and very smart.”
“He’s vaguely charming,” Levine countered, before laughing to himself.
“I missed this. I missed making so much fun of him,” Levine admitted. He and Shelton share a very special bromance that blossomed during their time on the show.
“I’ll go to the wedding and I’ll object,” said Levine. “I probably won’t be invited now that I’m saying this on live television. But I’ll be there somehow.”
Will Adam Levine Perform at the Shefani Wedding?
Shelton previously said during a December appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers that he plans to have the “Sugar” singer perform at his wedding.Â
“I’ve kind of decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now and I’ve got a lot of favors out there,” Shelton said at the time. “He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”
Back in March, Levine responded to his pal’s statement during an appearance on The Morning Mash Up, revealing he watched the interview when it aired.
“He’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna get Adam Levine to come play, he doesn’t know it yet,’ and I’m like sitting in bed eating popcorn and I’m like, ‘Man, f**k you, I’m not gonna play at your wedding,'” Levine joked at the time.
On a serious note later he added that “They are the best.” He would love to and would be honored even though he thinks they will ask someone like “Luke Bryan or somebody.”
Stefani and Shelton, meanwhile, have both gone on record to say that the “She Will Be Loved” singer has an open invitation to perform at their ceremony.
“I definitely would love to have Adam sing at our wedding,” Stefani said last week on Late Night with Seth Meyers before clarifying that the wedding will likely be small with only family in attendance.
Shelton proposed to Stefani at his Tishomingo, Oklahoma, ranch last October. The couple began dating in 2015 after they met as coaches on The Voice.
