Kelly Clarkson Says Celebrities Were Mean To Her

“I just adore you so much. This is really cool,” Jennifer told Kelly during their interview. This prompted Kelly to share a story about running into Jennifer at an award show back when she was on American Idol.

“We were just so slammed, and everything was happening in a whirlwind. And people were really mean to us, because we’re from a talent show and it was the first season,” she shared. “Like, everyone was so rude to us. On the carpet, at the show.”

She called it a “horrible experience.” However, she remember Jennifer running up to her and saying she was “rooting” for her. She apparently told Kelly, “Please keep the ones you love so close.”

“You just gave me this advice that was really kind,” Kelly continued, “in such an unkind time for me personally. So thank you so much.” She said it “meant the world to me.”

Kelly Was Lonely After Winning ‘American Idol’

This isn’t the first time Kelly has hinted that her time on American Idol wasn’t perfect. In 2018, she shared the advice she wanted to give to The Voice winner Chevel Shepherd, and revealed how lonely she was when her career started.

“This is gonna sound sad, so prepare yourself. It’s just—I didn’t have anyone,” Kelly told Country Living. “I moved out to LA alone. I didn’t have anybody, I didn’t have any friends in the industry, I didn’t know anyone.”

“I know everybody is down with talent shows on TV now, but they weren’t in the beginning so it was very hard,” Kelly continued. “I think that’s why I’m so overly like, ‘Are you good? Are you happy?’ I just want to make sure. I wish someone had done that for me.”
