Harry said it was “scary” to think about performing on such a big stage, when he’s only performed at school assemblies before. “I just want to kind of share my music with other people and see if they can relate,” he said.

The singer shared that he would be singing a song he wrote for his nan, called “Not Alone.” He said he had performed the song for her, and while she “wasn’t really aware of what was going on,” she “looked happy.”

Harry sat at the piano to perform the song, in which he sings, “Open your eyes / And tell me what you see / Am I among the forgotten? / Please say you remember me.” The judges and audience were clearly touched, and BGT host Ant McPartlin could be seen tearing up.

Harry Returns To The Stage With Sad News

Judge Alesha Dixon told Harry it takes “courage” to be vulnerable like that in front of so many people. “It’s quite rare that I can remember an audition a month or six months later,” Simon Cowell said. “And this is one I’m gonna remember.”

Harry received four “yes” votes from the judges to move on to the next round. He revealed during the semifinals that his grandmother had sadly passed away after his audition. “It was really special to have her in my life,” he shared.

For his second BGT performance, Harry sang “Supermarket Flowers” by Ed Sheeran. Judge David Walliams said, “You took someone else’s song … and you did sound like you’d written that song. Because you meant every single word.”

Although he didn’t make it to the next round, Harry released an EP called Younger in 2018, featuring his song “Not Alone,” as well as the tracks “Falling Down” and “Insomnia.”
