Addison Agen turned heads on season 13 of The Voice as an amazing singer who never flew on a plane before the series. At the time of her audition, she was 16 years old and ready to take the world by storm. After gaining loads of fans in 2017, she released her first album following the show in 2021.

No one was surprised when Addison won second place on her season of The Voice. Not even 24 hours after she sang Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You,” she made it on the iTunes charts at No. 3. She quickly became a folk hero to millions of fans around the country.

After making it to the end of the competition, she had a bigger platform than ever to create music with. Here’s 8 facts to know about Addison Agen in 2022.

1. She Was Apart of Team Adam

Addison originally began the competition on Team Miley, but soon made her way to Team Adam after the battle rounds. She finished out the season on Team Adam and had nothing but great things to say about her coach. Adam Levine used to say that she was one of the most special singers in the world.

While they worked one on one Levine taught the singer how to make songs unique. Addison has an extremely special voice so he made sure her music would match it.

“He taught me how to take bits and pieces of every genre that I like and put them together,” she said. “Make my own unique part of my own genre.”

2. Addison Released Her First Album After The Voice in 2021

In 2020, Addison created a kickstarter campaign to gain funds for her first album. In total, she raised $36,070 through her campaign. She shared with her fans that after The Voice concluded she tasked herself with the challenge of creating an album, but this wasn’t it. Addison went back to the drawing board and wrote all new music. She recorded When The Morning Comes with producer Joe Hettinga. Her debut album released on June 11, 2021.

Two weeks ago, Addison shared a new tune on her Instagram page. Within the posts’ caption the singer reminded her fans to always do things that make them happy. For her, writing music is that thing. Hopefully this means she has new music on the way soon. It’s great to see that at only 20 years old she is already dedicated to the art of songwriting.

3. She’s Dating Another Musician

Addison is dating fellow musician Mike Gronsky. Gronsky’s first appearance on her Instagram was in 2019 and their relationship defintely hasn’t slowed down since then. The couple is often seen in videos together where they’re playing guitar and singing. On April 21, 2020, Addison shared a carousel of the two together to celebrate their anniversary.

“Looking back to when we started dating, we were both at completely different places in life than we are now,” she wrote. “I’m so honored that I get to grow with you through all of the changes that have and will come. Happy 1 year, my love.”

On top of posting videos together online, they also have begun performing together. It’s clear that they’re a packaged deal in 2022.

4. Her Friends Sing Too

In 2017, she used to be apart of a group called VeVox, short for “Vehicle Vox,” because they sing in cars. Not only did they sing in cars, they also had live performances too. This group featured Addison and her two friends. The trio focused their music mainly on harmonization.

Addison’s friends/VeVox were some of her biggest support during her time on The Voice. They were seen posting about her on the series in 2017. It seems like their group is no longer together since they have not shared a video since 2018.

5. She’s Opened For Larger Artists

Since finishing The Voice, Addison has continued to perform live. Outside of performing alone, she has gotten the chance to open for some big names in music. She’s opened for Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and Kevin Bacon’s The Bacon Brothers Band.

6. Sara Bareilles Complimented Her The Voice Performance

In the Top 12, Addison sang “She Used To Be Mine” from the Broadway musical, Waitress. After this live performance The Voice shared a video of it and tagged the created of the song Sara Bareilles. Bareilles quoted the tweet praising the singer for her rendition of the song.

7. Her Audition Song From The Voice Is Her Second Favorite Song To Sing

In an interview Addison revealed what her five favorite songs are. It should come to no surprise that her amazing rendition of “Jolene” by Ray LaMontagne made the list. It was obvious in her audition that she had been preparing this song for a long time.

On top of “Jolene” the singer mentioned that “Jealous” by Labrinth, “Wake Up with Me” by Gabrielle Aplin and “Delicate” by Damien Rice were some of her other favorites.

Musical people typically come from an extremely musical family. Both of Addison’s parents love music as well. Her father used to own a record store in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The record store is called Neat Neat Neat Records and Music. Before the shop sold, Addison would sometimes host performances and meet-and-greets there.

Addison’s mom works several jobs, but one of them is as a musical therapist at a nursing home. Her mom plays music for the people in the nursing home as a form of stress relief.
