7 Things to Know About Keisha Renee From ‘The Voice’ Season 13

Keisha Renee was ready to step out into the spotlight when she auditioned for Season 13 of The Voice. The singer’s blind audition of the Don Gibson song “I Can’t Stop Loving You” turned all four chairs. The Los Angeles native shocked the judges as she added a soulful twist to the country song she selected. The popular contestant grew a large fanbase during her season.

Yes the queen of rap knows who Keisha is. Many fans did not know that before appearing on The Voice, Keisha was a well known background singer for established artists. Keisha has sung background for artists such as JoJo, Adam Lambert, and Jill Scott.

Keisha is a Champion for Health and Wellness

At the time of her pregnancy The Voice alum weighed 356 pounds. Keisha was diagnosed with diabetes and had a high risk pregnancy. After a scary doctor’s visit the singer began to change her lifestyle and lost weight while she was pregnant with her daughter. After giving birth Keisha says that she started gaining weight once again when she was on tour. In 2016 she had weight loss surgery and she shedded over 188 pounds. Now the singer continues to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Team Blake

Keisha was born in Los Angeles but she grew up in Houston, TX. It was her roots in Texas that the singer discovered her love for country music while singing in the church. Once Keisha finished her audition she did not hesitate to join Team Blake. Keisha stuck to her love for country throughout the series until she sang an outstanding rendition of Celine Dion’s “All By Myself.” Keisha has credited Minaj for giving her the confidence to try different music genres. Her Voice coach Blake Shelton was uneasy with her singing Dion’s hit song, but it paid off. Keisha’s rendition was her only Top 10 hit on iTunes. The singer made it to the Top 8 in the competition.


‘The Road Less Traveled’

The singer did not let her loss stop her from pursuing music. In 2019 Keisha released her debut EP The Road Less Traveled. Keisha proved her love for country with the single “Whiskey Eyes.” The singer is continuing to make history in country music. She is one of the few Black women to have found success in that genre.

Keisha Performs With Kanye West

After her season on The Voice, Keisha took her talents to Kanye West’s popular Sunday Service choir. The singer’s powerful voice was a highlight during West’s Jesus is King performance at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood megachurch. The popular choir has toured across the country and often goes viral for their inspirational messages through song.

Keisha’s on Tour With JoJo

The singer is back with JoJo for her 2022 tour. JoJo has seen a career resurgence in recent years and. Keisha has been with her along the way.

Keisha is Having a Boy

The singer revealed that she is welcoming a new boy this summer. This will be Keisha’s second child after giving birth to her daughter Amari in 2015. Keisha’s new bundle of joy will arrive this June.
