5 Things to Know About ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars’ Queen Ginger Minj
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Time is ticking down until the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season six will be crowned. After Ginger Minj’s heartfelt monologue about her love of The Wizard Of Oz last week, I did some digging to bring you some things you probably didn’t know about the star.
Ginger Minj was born as Joshua Allen Eads in 1984. She was a part of season seven of RuPaul’s Drag Race and won second place. After that she went on to compete in RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars seasons two and six. She is currently in the top four for the current RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars competition. Outside of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she is a Drag queen, actor, singer-songwriter, and reality television personality, but there’s a bit more to her.
5. Ginger Minj Prefers She/Her Pronouns
This queen’s social media has photos of her in and out of drag. Last July, Minj responded to a Tweet, clarifying that she’s not picky, but she prefers she/her pronouns.
4. She Was in the Netflix Film, Dumplin’
In 2018, Ginger Minj made big time in the film industry. Dumplin’ is about a Willowdean, the daughter of a pageant winning mom (Jennifer Aniston). The film touches on people having fatphobia in pageant competitions and Willowdean wants to prove people wrong about her weight. Willowdean and her friend go to a drag show as a way to “study” before the pageant. Minj is seen as one of the drag queens who gives Willowdean a feel of what their art is all about.
3. She Has Released Two Studio Albums
Minj put out her debut album, “Sweet T,” in 2016 about a year after her debut premiere on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Recently, she released her second studio album, “Gummy Bear.” These albums have given her over 9,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. On top of her albums, she has released multiple singles.
2. Ginger Minj is Married
She is married to Ceejay Russell. The couple started dating in 2015, then was married by Michelle Visage at a DragCon convention in 2017. She credits Russell as her husband, business partner, and very best friend. How cute are they?!
1. She Has a Show With Fellow Former RuPaul Contestant, Jiggly Caliente
On Mondays, a new episode of Wigs In a Blanket premieres on OUTtv. This is a cooking show where Minj and Caliente cook and bicker. Each episode they make a dish for a drag brunch extravaganza. This show features plenty of guest queens, which must be so fun for Caliente and Minj.
Tune in Thursday for the next episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars to see which queens make it to the final showdown!
