Will ‘The Four’s Deal With Republic Records Do For Them What They Didn’t For ‘The Voice’?

Fox

As we told you yesterday, Charlie Walk, who is a judge on The Four, is the head of Republic Records. This is the same record label that signs the winners of The Voice to an exclusive contract and have yet to produce a truly huge star. So, the question is: Will Charlie Walk put more into the winner of The Four because he is personally involved with the project.

We’ve written at length about how the winners of The Voice seem to not get treated right by Republic Records. It’s not us saying that either. Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have thrown the lack of big stars coming out of The Voice squarely at the feet of Republic. He’s said,

“We work with these artists and give them this tremendous workshop and get them to the end of the show, and I think the work that we do on the show is amazing. We give these guys this incredible platform and this really rare thing, a lot of exposure and air time. Once we pass the torch, it is the record label that completely destroys that.”

But now the head of Republic, Charlie Walk, will be the one personally involved in the winner’s careers as a judge on The Four. Will this make a difference in the way the artists are managed after the show is over? Only time will tell. But if that is the case than The Voice should seriously consider contemplating their relationship with Republic.
