Fans are becoming concerned due to Kelly Clarkson’s absence on her self titled talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. It’s been nearly a week since fans last saw the American Idol winner on her show, and many are concerned. Here’s why she’s been absent from the show.
Kelly Clarkson Takes a Break From The Kelly Clarkson Show
This week, Kelly Clarkson has been absent from The Kelly Clarkson Show. Apparently, Clarkson unexpectedly missed a taping on March 3. During that taping, actor Simu Liu stepped in for the American Idol alum. For those who may not know, Simu Liu also took over for Clarkson in 2022, when he pivoted from guest to host when she couldn’t make it.
Apparently, Clarkson returned to her show on March 4, but she didn’t acknowledge her absence. The last time Clarkson appeared on her show was March 5, when she interviewed Jason Derulo and Nora Fatehi, Jason Isaacs, and Allie X.
Who Has Filled in for Clarkson During Her Absence?
Clarkson has been absent from her show since March 6. During March 6’s episode, comedian Roy Wood Jr. stepped in for Clarkson. He explained that Clarkson was out, and that the audience was in good hands, since he had guest hosted on February 28, 2025.
On March 7, actress Wanda Skyes and Josh Groban co-hosted the episode. At the beginning of the show, Skyes mentioned Clarkson’s absence, saying “It’s good to be here at Kelly’s show. She asked if I could co-host, and I said, ‘Absolutely, Kelly. There’s nothing I’d rather be doing on my birthday than daytime TV.’ “
On March 10. Brooke Shields took over as host, and Smoke Robinson performed for Kellyoke. The next day, Shields returned to the the show as guest host.

Today’s episode (March 12), was taped with Willie Geist as the host. On March 13 and 14, actress Molly Sims will fill in for Clarkson.
At this time, it is not known when Clarkson will be returning to her talk show. Fans are under the impression the singer needed time off either due to illness or something related to her children. We will see if Clarkson returns to her show next week.
