It has been an incredible season of American Idol that has really showcased some talented performers. It’s all coming to an end tonight where a winner will be crowned in the first-ever remote season finale. Check out the lineup of celebrity performances that you won’t want to miss.
The top 7 contestants will be narrowed down to the top 5 at the beginning of the episode. Each contestant will perform twice and then also perform their American Idol single. Votes will be cast in real-time, making this the first time ever that the winner will be determined in a real-time vote on the East Coast broadcast during the American Idol finale.
Katy Perry’s Performance Will Make You Cry
Katy Perry recently released her new hit “Daisies.” On Instagram, she said “I wrote this song a couple of months ago as a call to remain true to the course you’ve set for yourself, regardless of what others may think. Recently, it has taken a new meaning for me, in light of what the whole world is experiencing. Each of us is one in more than seven billion, with our own story of strength and resilience to tell.” Katy’s performance is going to be full of raw emotion and we are definitely looking forward to it. Plus, it is the first time she is ever performing this song live.
Luke Bryan will also be performing his new single “One Margarita.” It’s a song about feeling good and dancing and will definitely raise our spirits while we are watching at home.

Lionel Richie Is Hoping To Inspire People With His Throwback Performance
On last week’s show, Lionel Richie announced that he would be performing the song “We Are The World.” He wrote the song with Michael Jackson and it was originally released in 1985 to help ease the pain of poverty in Africa. The version of the song that will be performed tonight is intended to give people hope and a sense of togetherness during the difficult coronavirus pandemic. Lionel will not be singing alone. Garbage Man Doug Kiker Is Making His ‘American Idol’ Return
Doug Kiker, the man who stole the hearts of everyone around the world will be performing with Rascal Flatts. They will be singing “Bless the Broken Road” which he iconically performed during his time on American Idol. This will be a huge moment for him and he voiced his excitement and how thankful he was on Instagram. He has become a huge fan favorite of the talented group of contestants this season.
Other performances include Oscar-nominated actress Cynthia Erivo who will be singing a medley of Aretha Franklin songs. Former American Idol contestant Lauren Daigle will be singing her smash hit “You Say.”
