Watch ‘American Idol’ Early Release of Christian Guardino, Nicolina’s Outstanding Duet
Hollywood week is officially in full swing on season 20 of American Idol. After last week’s genre challenge, fans of the series cannot wait to see who will make it further in the competition. Christian Guardino and Nicolina are the first pair to be revealed ahead of Monday’s episode.
Hollywood week is the time for American Idol singers to give everything they have to stay in the competition. After great performances in the genre challenge, American Idol returns on April 3 for the duets challenge.
Powerhouse Vocalists Take the Stage Together
On April 1, the series shared an early release of an upcoming duet. Within the video, Christian and Nicolina take the stage singing “The Prayer” by Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion. It was obvious this was going to be a great duet as soon as Nicolina began the song.
Her silky voice hit every low register note with perfection. Christian matched her perfection within the duet. The audience of other singers roared for this beautiful duet while the judges remained speechless. Something about them singing together made this song mesmerizing.
As soon as they stopped singing, Lionel Richie explained that this part of the competition is hard because the judges have to decide which artist was the best of the two of them. Instead of determining which of them continues on, the judges chose to send both Nicolina and Christian into the next round of the competition.
Christian Guardino, Nicolina Become Fan Favorites From Their Duet
Nicolina and Christian both impressed in their respective pop and soul categories of the genre challenges. While they’re great artists on their own, something about them as a duo stood out. I think this duet pairing was incredible. Both of these artists are powerhouse vocalists on their own, but they never overshadowed one another.
“Just make a idol first and have a double winner and make these 2 the winner W/ recording contract. These 2 are killing it,” a fan wrote in the YouTube comments.
Fans were happy to see these two paired together. On their own they’ve made their mark as powerhouse vocals, but they’ve definitely earned the title of fan favorite after that performance. Season 20 of American Idol will prove itself as a competitive season if other duets follow suit with this one.
