We love us some Davon Fleming. His silky vocals and powerful performances made him a favorite of last season of The Voice. He proudly talked about his hometown of Baltimore, MD and the work he does there with young folks. The city of Baltimore took notice and hired Davon to form a youth choir for the city.

The idea is to reach out to kids who may not have another outlet to sing and might be at risk. Davon will lead the choir and work to bring out their inner awesomeness. If anyone can do it, it’s Davon. We interviewed him on the red carpet several times and he is a delightful person and so much fun. The kids are going to love working with him. They are holding auditions now. Go here for more info.

This just goes to show you the importance of talent shows like The Voice. What seems like a silly thing just for entertainment purposes can translate into real world results that can potentially change the lives of thousands of kids. Way to go, Davon. And hey, a steady gig for a singer with tight government benefits? Not bad, man.
