‘The Voice UK’s Ratings Are Super Strong
Reading Time: 2 minutes
While venerable institution The X Factor UK is hemorrhaging viewers, The Voice UK is going strong. Though their ratings are slightly down from last year, it’s still early on in the competition. But they easily won the night on Saturday and captured the coveted 18-49 demo.
With the addition of Olly Murs and the return of Jennifer Hudson, along with longtime coaches Tom Jones and Will.i.Am, The Voice UK is going strong with 5.4 million viewers. That’s a solid get for a non-live episode in the UK. Remember there are a lot less people there. This is down 400k from last week at this time, but they are still solid numbers. Especially compared to the measly sums The X Factor was getting. It’s hard not to compare the two shows, especially since Olly used to be associated with The X Factor.
What can we attribute this too? Maybe people like the more positive vibes of The Voice and not the general grumpiness of Simon Cowell. The Voice is a show that appeals to Millennials because everyone is a champ and they are very encouraging. No one tells anyone they suck. Also, as great as the celeb panel on The X Factor is, they can’t compete with the star power of J-Hud and Will.i.Am, the youthful fans of Olly, and women my mom’s age who love them some Tom Jones. It’s not unusual. (See what I did there?)
