‘The Voice UK’ Lashes Out At ‘The X Factor UK’
The British version of The Voice is wildly popular. It stars Tom Jones, Will.i.Am, Olly Murs, and Jennifer Hudson and is on ITV along with The X Factor UK. Tom Jones and company decided to hit back at The X Factor after judge Sharon Osbourne called The Voice gimmicky. Tom Jones did not take that sitting down in his swivel chair.

He brought up a good point: most of the judges on The X Factor have never been on stage before and are not singers so what could they possibly understand about what the contestants are going through. Jones said,
“[The Voice coaches] have all been on stage before and we’ve all been up there before as performers, opposed to other shows that give their views on things. Some of them have never been on stage!’ ‘They’ve never been in the same shoes [as the contestants]. Some of the judges on other shows have never done that. We have.”
Simon Cowell has said in the past that he doesn’t understand why singers would want to be judged by other singers because then jealousy and other issues rear their heads. Maybe, but I can’t help thinking that Tom Jones has a point. How could help singers if you haven’t walked in their shoes.
