‘The Voice’ Announces Season 15 Battles Advisors

The Voice announced the Season 15 battles advisors today! CeeLo Green, Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, and Halsey will all be coming to the show this fall. This announcement comes as the season premiere is just over a month away, returning September 24th. And in case you don’t know them, let’s take a look at each of the new battles advisors and which team they’ll be helping out!
CeeLo Green
Original The Voice coach CeeLo Green will be making his return to the show to advise Team Adam. CeeLo was a coach on the show in seasons 1-3 and 5. Though his contestants didn’t have much success and his best finish was one runner-up, he was also brought in as an advisor during seasons 4 and 8. That being said, this is not a new role for him!
However, his return to the show will not be without controversy. CeeLo’s past stint on the show ended after legal issues arose. In August of 2014, he pleaded no contest to one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance. This charge came from a 2012 incident in which a woman accused the singer of slipping ecstacy into her drink. It is interesting that NBC would bring him back, especially considering the current climate. But he is, without a doubt, an interesting character!
Keith Urban
This is another interesting choice for NBC but not in a bad way! Keith Urban will be advising Team Blake in the upcoming season’s battle rounds. You may remember Keith was a judge on American Idol for its last four seasons on FOX.
With Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson also on the roster for Season 15, it’s looking like The Voice is poaching a lot of Idol talent! But I, for one, am not complaining. Mostly, they have experience with shows like this. You want people who can coach and advise well so the singers can reach their full potential! Also, Keith is a good friend of Blake’s. I’m sure their chemistry will be hilarious to watch on-screen. Plus, I actually liked him as a judge on American Idol so this is an all-around win for me!
Thomas Rhett
Kelly is really pushing her “little bit country” with this advisor! Thomas Rhett will be joining her for the battle rounds and upping her street cred as a legitimate country coach. Last season, she played into this some but it looks like we’re about to take it to the next level! Kelly could be a threat to Blake’s country dominance that he’s been able to maintain basically since season one. And I’m here for it! I’m excited to see how Thomas interacts with Kelly and what insight he’ll have for the singers.
Halsey
The last of the battles advisors is Halsey! We’ve seen Halsey on The Voice stage before so it only makes sense she’s back. She will be advising Team Jennifer in the battle rounds this upcoming season. After performing in last year’s finale with Big Sean, Halsey will bring her dynamic energy and younger perspective to the show. She and Jennifer are an interesting pair, but should be able to give a lot of good direction from their very different experiences in music.
