Tonight Is The Country Music Awards And It Is Full Of Talent Show Royalty
Michael Loccisano/Getty Images The CMAs are on tonight at 8pm on ABC and all of the stars of country music are going to put on their Sunday best to to attend. I remember when I was a kid these awards were very niche because most people outside of the South didn’t listen to country music. But now it’s everywhere. It is interesting to note that several people with connections to talent competition shows will be there as performers or presenters.

Luke Bryan will be there and he is, of course, one of the judges on the reboot of American Idol. Speaking of Idol, Carrie Underwood will also be on hand as well as former Idol judge Keith Urban. But let’s not forget Rascal Flats who joined Blake Shelton as mentors on this year’s season of The Voice. Keith and Luke are also up for best performer, song, and album. Blake will get his turn next year I’m sure as his album Texoma Shore only came out a few days ago.
This officially means that the country music world has fully embraced folks that either come from or work with reality TV talent competition shows. Way to not be snobby, country music.
