‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Will Be Replaced with Sherri Shepherd Talk Show
‘The Wendy Williams Show’ is officially ending due to Williams’s ongoing health battles. Throughout the month of February, guest host Sherri Shepherd frequently took over the purple chair, and the comedian will take over Williams’s slot with her own daytime talk show this Fall.
Since October, Williams has been missing from her talk show. We first heard that Williams was taking care of her health. She contracted Covid-19 and was due to only be off the air for a couple of weeks. Williams never returned. Fans only heard that she continued to have ongoing health issues. Long-time viewers know that the controversial host suffers from autoimmune disorder Graves’ disease. Williams took time off during the Summer of 2020 because of her condition.
This time producers continued to give fans hope that they would see Williams spilling celebrity gossip once again. Every month reports came out that Williams would return, but the day never came. Instead fans learned about Williams’s mental health issues as well as her battle with addiction. The former radio host has been open about her past struggles with drug abuse. Wells Fargo’s recent claim that Williams is in need of guardianship over her personal and business banking has only added fuel to the fire. Williams has gone on record to dispute the bank’s claims.
Amid the struggle with getting Williams back on her show, producers have invited multiple celebrity guest judges to take over and dish on the latest celebrity drama, including Sherri Shepherd.
‘The Sherri Shepherd Show’
It is no surprise that reports are coming in about Shepherd getting her own show. The former The View co-host has been invited back to guest host on multiple occasions. She is also closing out this month’s Wendy Williams Show with brand new episodes.
The Masked Singer and Dancing With The Stars alumni is no stranger to hosting. Shepherd is a stand-up comedian who has hosted radio shows as well as The View. From all the guest hosts that have been on the show, producers could bank more on Shepherd to keep as well as bring in a new audience. During the first week of November Shepherd’s hosting duties saw ratings hit a high note for The Wendy Williams Show.
As for Williams, she recently made a return to social media to show fans that she is in good spirits. Williams posted a photo on Instagram honoring her father’s 91st birthday.
