Carter Rubin (Team Gwen)

This 15-year-old returned to the stage to sing “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, which he called “the perfect song for me.” Blake Shelton told him he’s a “fan.” Gwen Stefani said, “It feels like you’re just meant to be doing this.”

For his second performance, Carter worked with songwriter Justin Tranter on the single “Up From Here.” Gwen marveled at how calm and “in the moment” Carter is at just 15 years old.

Desz (Team Kelly)

Desz worked with songwriter Justin Tranter to record the single “Holy Ground.” John Legend told her she knows who she is as an artist. Kelly Clarkson was in tears, telling her, “I needed that song.” She added that Desz is the best vocalist she’s ever worked with.

For her second performance, Desz sang “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac. Gwen said it was “incredible” and “mind-blowing.” Kelly said Desz does things vocally that she can’t believe are possible.

Ian Flanigan (Team Blake)

The Instant Save winner from last week performed “In Color” by Jamey Johnson. John Legend complimented the “distinct character” in Ian’s voice. Blake Shelton said there’s never been anyone who sounds like him.

For his second performance, Ian worked with songwriter Ross Copperman on the single “Never Learn.” John said it was a great song choice and could relate to it as a parent. The coaches laughed about Blake’s comment that Ian’s voice is like a “friendly monster.”

Jim Ranger (Team Blake)

Jim worked with songwriter Ross Copperman on the single “Last.” Gwen Stefani said she could imagine Jim’s career after the show, saying he can do anything with his voice. Blake Shelton told him, “There’s a place for you on country radio.”

For his second performance, Jim performed Joe Cocker’s version of “With a Little Help From My Friends.” Kelly said it was his best performance on the show, saying it felt like an original. Blake said he “let it all out,” adding that he was happy for him.

John Holiday (Team Legend)

John worked with songwriter Justin Tranter to work on the single “Where Do We Go.” Kelly couldn’t believe he was able to breathe while performing the song. John Legend said it’s “magical” to watch his journey on the show.

For his second performance, John performed “Halo” by Beyoncé. Kelly praised John’s range as “stupid incredible.” John Legend said he has “an out-of-this-world gift.”

Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani Perform Together

During the show, coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani took the stage to perform their song “Happy Anywhere.” Blake played the guitar, while Gwen sang and danced in a bold black and white outfit.
