The Voice is returning Monday night for Season 29, subtitled Battle of Champions. Ahead of the premiere on NBC, let’s take a look at 21 singers who auditioned for this season — including a few returning contestants who have appeared on the show before.
1. Jaali
This 26-year-old singer-songwriter frequently posts videos of herself singing on social media. In one clip from 2024, she performs “Ordinary People” by John Legend. Will she end up on his team this season on The Voice?
2. Drew Russell
This singer has recently been teasing her new four-song EP, called Drifting Away, out February 20. Her father is also a talented singer, as the pair posted a duet on social media last year.
3. Jonah Mayor
This singer from New York City describes himself as a “singer, actor, gym rat” in his Instagram bio. His YouTube channel features several covers of songs by popular artists such as Adele and Harry Styles.
4. Nicolette Capua
This singer from New York has several singles under her belt, including “Too Bad” and “Tug of War.” According to her website, Nicolette has a two-and-a-half octave range and has been working with vocal coaches since she was 10.
5. Kendra Remedios
This singer-songwriter is originally from Texas but now resides in Tennessee. According to her website, Kendra’s sound includes “elements of southern rock.” Kendra previously competed on Season 11 and 12 of American Idol.
6. Houston Kelly
This country singer from Memphis recently released his debut album Right Here, Right Now last October. He previously put out an EP titled Walk-ins Welcome in 2023.
7. Grace Humphries
This 18-year-old singer-songwriter is originally from Texas but now lives in Nashville. She’s released several singles over the last few years, most recently the song “For Years.”
8. Lucas West
This singer and instrumentalist is based in New York and has performed the National Anthem at two Buffalo Bills football games. According to his website, he previously auditioned for American Idol.
9. Natasha Blaine
This singer’s Instagram bio describes her music style as “groovy soul-pop.” Natasha has released several singles over the years, most recently the song “Own Way (Pull the Thread).”
10. Aaron Lavigne
In a sneak peek from Season 29, The Voice coach John Legend can be seen trying to convince this singer to join his team. Aaron has previously appeared on Broadway, and he portrayed Jesus in a tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.
11. Mikenley Brown
This singer has recently been promoting her new EP, Pretty Girlz Cry, out February 20. She previously released a single called “Good. Bad. Better.” in 2023.
12. Adi Arora
This singer has posted a number of covers on his Instagram account, including a rendition of “Sunday Morning” by Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5. Will he join Levine’s team this season on The Voice?
13. Bijou Belle
This singer-songwriter describes her genres as pop and alt-rock on Instagram. She performs in a family band called The RathCo. They released an EP earlier this month.
14. Bay Simpson
This singer describes himself as a “heartland rocker” on Instagram. Bay has released several singles on streaming, including two titles earlier this year — “Where Do I Go From Her” and “Fortunate Son.”
15. JW Griffin
This singer-songwriter has released several singles over the past few years, most recently the track “Tend the Flame” earlier this month. He frequently posts videos of himself singing and playing guitar.
16. Mike Steele
This singer has over 140,000 followers on TikTok, where he posts performance videos. Last year, he released a music video for his song “Get It Right.”
17. K.J. Willis
This R&B artist has sung background vocals for Babyface, and he also works as an actor. Last year, he released a holiday EP called A Very KJ Christmas.
18. Pete Mroz
If Pete’s name sounds familiar, that’s because he previously competed on Season 20 of The Voice, reaching the Live Playoffs before being eliminated. It looks like he’ll be back this season for another chance at winning the show.
19. Kristen Merlin
This Nashville-based singer-songwriter is also a returning contestant on The Voice this season. She previously reached the Top 5 in Season 6 of the show, on Shakira’s team. Kristen recently released a single called “Own Damn Money.”
20. Nakia
Nakia is yet another returning contestant this season. He competed on The Voice all the way back in the first season, reaching the Semifinals. How far will he go this time? We’ll have to wait and see.
21. Chris Weaver
Chris is yet another singer who appeared on a previous installment of the show, in Season 13. He made it to the Playoffs on Jennifer Hudson’s team. Whose team might he join this season? We’ll have to wait and see.
