Season 6 of The Masked Singer is currently in production, and there are reportedly no plans to stop filming, despite several positive COVID-19 cases on set. Entertainment Weekly reports that production is slated to wrap on August 11.

Production on the current season started in June. The show is set to premiere September 22, with a second night on September 23. It’s the first season to feature an in-person audience since Season 3.

‘The Masked Singer’ Set Has 12 COVID-19 Cases

The Masked Singer had previously featured a virtual audience during the pandemic. However, the show brought back in-person viewing for the current season. Audience members were reportedly required to have proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test to participate.

However, these precautions didn’t stop 12 people on set from testing positive for the virus. According to Variety, the cases are a mix of community exposure and workplace exposure.

“The safety of the entire cast and crew has been and will continue to be our number one priority,” said Fox Entertainment in a statement. “We work closely with local and state officials and the unions to ensure we have the safest environment possible.”

Meanwhile, other shows such as Bridgerton and American Horror Story have shut down production as people have tested positive on their sets. The decision to keep filming The Masked Singer is questionable, as cases have been spiking in Los Angeles.

What to Expect from the New Season

Host Nick Cannon will be returning to the show for Season 6. Cannon had to miss part of last season when he himself tested positive for COVID-19. He was replaced by temporary host Niecy Nash.

This season will also feature the same judges we’ve come to know — Jenny Mccarthy, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Nicole Scherzinger. Based on the teaser, fans have speculated that this season’s characters might include a Banana Split and a Mallard.

The Masked Singer Season 6 will have a two-night premiere on FOX starting September 22.
