Terry Fator Impersonates Elton John on AGT: All-Stars
When asked why he chose to compete on All-Stars after all his success as a Las Vegas performer, Fator said he wants to “keep inspiring people.” For his first performance, he was joined by his puppet Winston, who sang “The Prayer” by Andrea Bocelli, in Italian.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, Fator then brought an Elton John puppet on stage and impersonated both his speaking voice and singing voice to perform “Rocket Man.” He even performed a duet with Winston, inspired by the song’s remix with Dua Lipa.
Fator switched seamlessly between both voices, while operating the puppets. The performance earned a standing ovation from the audience and the entire judging panel. AGT host Terry Crews called it “legendary.”
What Did the Judges Think of Fator’s Performance?
Judge Howie Mandel told Fator that “it is not a fluke that you won AGT.” He added that it’s “a dream come true” for everyone watching that he decided to return for All-Stars. Meanwhile, fellow judge Heidi Klum called him “the OG of ventriloquists.”
Simon Cowell was especially complimentary, telling Fator that the one condition before they decided to make All-Stars was that he had to be one of the contestants. Cowell explained, “You’re gonna say we’ve got the best of the best, then you’ve got to get the best of the best.”
Cowell said that if he were a Superfan, he would vote Fator through to the Finals. We’ll find out how Fator did when AGT: All-Stars premieres on Monday night at 8/7c on NBC.
