McRae worked on her song “Exes” with Ryan Tedder and Tyler Spry. In a new interview with People, McRae shared that the song was the last one they worked on for the new album, and it was finished incredibly quickly.

“We wrote it in 30 minutes — finished the whole song in 60 to 90 minutes, had it fully produced and vocal tracked and everything,” McRae recalled. “We send it to the label, and they said, ‘Next single.’ It was the quickest process ever.”

As for the dance-heavy music video, McRae said she was inspired by “the greats, like Britney and Christina,” adding, “I’ve been dreaming of doing a dance music video with full choreography — dance being the most prominent thing in the music video — for so long.”

McRae definitely has dance experience, as she placed second on So You Think You Can Dance in 2016, when she was just 13 years old. The singer said that it’s “obviously an honor” to be compared to artists such as Spears.

McRae Is Going on Tour Next Year

McRae’s sophomore album Think Later will be out this Friday, December 8. The singer is also gearing up to perform a world tour next year. The shows kick off in April in Ireland, with European dates running into May.

Then in July and August, she’ll head to North America to perform in various cities. She’ll then take a break before traveling to Australia and New Zealand in November. You can see a full list of dates on McRae’s website.

McRae recently performed on Saturday Night Live for the first time. The singer told People that opportunities like that give her “impostor syndrome,” adding, “This is just a big dream.”
