Straight Up, Did Paula Abdul Really Injure Julianne Hough At The BBMAs?
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Did you catch the moment at Wednesday night’s Billboard Music Awards when Paula Abdul hit Julianne Hough with her hat? The accident occurred during Paula’s performance at the show. The former American Idol judge dramatically removed her hat and tossed it directly at Julianne’s neck.
The moment, including Julianne’s excited look to camera, was popular on Twitter. But did Paula’s poor aim cause more damage than we first thought? Some people believed so when Julianne posted a photo after the show.
“The result of the honor of being hit in the neck by @PaulaAbdul’s flying hat!” the new America’s Got Talent judge wrote to caption a pic of her in what appears to be a neck brace. Paula responded that she was “PEEING MY PANTS,” adding that it was done “with love.”
So did Paula’s hat trick really injure Julianne? The answer is a definite no, but that didn’t stop some people from believing it. A few outlets, including Fox News, reported it as a real neck brace. However, if you look more closely, you’ll see that Julianne actually just wrapped a towel around her neck.
If you need any more proof that Paula’s hat-throwing powers aren’t that strong, just look at Julianne’s Instagram account. She posted an update on Thursday assuring everyone that her neck is fine. It included a video of her taking the towel off and joking, “I will get hit in the neck from Paula Abdul any day.”
Julianne also proposed a pretty great idea for the new season of America’s Got Talent. She told Paula to “bring that hat” to the show so they can have a dance-off. We would totally love to see that.
We’re glad Julianne is OK, and that she had a sense of humor about the whole situation. If you want to see the rest of Paula’s BBMAs performance (or just replay the hat toss over and over again), check it out in the video below.
