Stephen “tWitch” Boss’s brother, Drè Rose, has publicly spoken out about the dancer’s death, alongside their mother, Connie Boss Alexander. In an interview with CBS Mornings, they addressed the claims in a new memoir by Boss’s widow, Allison Holker.

Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss’s Brother Speaks Out About His Death

Boss died by suicide in December 2022. In a new memoir, Boss’s widow and fellow dancer Allison Holker claimed that she found a “cornucopia” of drugs in their closet after his death. She also claimed that Boss wrote in his journals about being sexually abused as a child.

Boss’s brother Drè Rose and his mother said the claims about sexual abuse came as a shock to them. Rose also questioned the accuracy of Holker’s claims about drug use, saying “there could have been a better way to bring that to the family and then discuss what that meant.”

“To use my brother’s name and make it seem like he had this serious addiction problem, this sexual abuse allegation,” Rose told Gayle King in a new interview. “That could have been true, but I don’t think that’s the reason why my brother isn’t here today.”

When King asked Rose why he thought Boss died, he said “that’s a question for Allison,” adding, “I think she knows more than us because she was there. She knows his last known whereabouts. She knows the last conversation they had.”

Rose Says His Brother ‘Felt Silenced’ in His Marriage

During the interview with CBS Mornings, Rose also shared that his brother often confided in him about issues such as imposter syndrome. He added that, according to Boss, it was difficult for him to have those conversations with Holker.

“So in my opinion, [from] our conversations that he had with me, he felt silenced. He couldn’t get it out,” Rose shared. “And he loved his wife, he loved his kids. He would definitely give them his last. But in any situation in which you can’t have a conversation and get resolve, it becomes one-sided.”

Holker’s book, titled This Far, was released earlier this month. The dancer has received backlash for her decision to share intimate details of her late husband’s struggles with the public. She has since shared that all proceeds from the book will be donated to Move with Kindness, the mental health charity she founded in Boss’s memory.

“My hope is that we don’t need to lose another husband, brother, father or friend to suicide,” Holker said in a statement. “I believe that if Stephen were able to choose, he would choose to have his story told if it meant saving even one life. Much love to all those who supported our family these many years.”
