These ‘Songland’ First Looks Have Us PUMPED For The New Show
Reading Time: 2 minutes
Songlandis the new talent show we are now more excited for than ever! From The Voice‘s Adam Levine, Songland focuses on songwriters competing to write a Top 40 artist’s next hit. It will feature artists from the Jonas Brothers to John Legend to Kelsea Ballerini. The show premieres on Tuesday, May 28 at 10/9c on NBC.
If you’re wondering how this all plays out, the new official trailer is a great place to start! And for some reason, Charlie Puth cries???
We’ve also written an article in the past explaining how Songland will be laid out. So if you’re looking for the featured artists and show format, all that information is there. But we’re going to do an in-depth look at the official trailer here!
Breaking Down the First Look
In the official trailer, we see dreams coming true before our eyes. Many of these songwriters seem to have been trying to break into the mainstream music industry for a while, but haven’t had the right opportunities to do so. Well Songland will be that opportunity for them! Even if their songs don’t get chosen by the featured artist that week, this is huge for their exposure.
Since day one, this show has promoted the fact that it will give insight into a part of the music industry we don’t usually see. Songwriting and song selection is crucial for artists, but often goes unnoticed by listeners. Well not anymore! We are getting an inside look at what that process looks like. From the initial song pitch to the producing and re-writing to the final product, nothing will be a secret about how it all works behind the scenes.
There were some really raw, cool moments in this trailer too. My favorite was when we heard John Legend give a songwriter advice to slow down her song and when she did, it sounded absolutely amazing. Without hearing any of the other contenders, I really hope John Legend picks her. Mainly because I want to hear him sing that song!
Songland Mentors
Songland also released three new promos highlighting the songs written by the mentors on the show, Shane McAnally, Ryan Tedder, and Ester Dean. These three songwriters are known for some of the biggest hits in music! Shane has been more behind-the-scenes, but you might recognize Ryan Tedder as the front-man for OneRepublic and Ester Dean for her appearances in the Pitch Perfect movies. They will be the ones helping each songwriter make their songs perfect for the featured artist.
Where to Watch
Well, if that got you pumped about this new show like it did for us, tune in! Songland debuts on Tuesday, March 28th at 10/9c on NBC. And we will be watching and recapping right here so stay tuned!
