Sofia Carson to Mentor ‘American Idol’ Top 5 for Disney Night

Sofia Carson is this week’s celebrity mentor on a new episode of American Idol Season 21. The star will join the Top 5 in Disneyland before they perform on Disney Night. The competition is winding down, with just one week left before the finale.
Sofia Carson to Mentor on American Idol Disney Night
American Idol shared a video on Tuesday showing Carson in an all-red outfit at Disneyland in California. Carson is known for her work in Disney’s Descendants movies, so it makes sense that she would be mentoring the contestants for Disney Night.
“What’s up, guys. It’s Sofia Carson here,” she says in the clip. “We are at Disneyland. I’m so excited to be mentoring American Idol‘s Top 5 this week for Disney Night. So tune in. It’s going to be magical.”
Disney Night has become a tradition on American Idol since the show moved to ABC. This year, the Top 5 will be tasked with performing famous songs from Disney movies. America will vote live to decide which singers should make it into the Top 3.
Those three contestants will perform in the finale, which is scheduled to air on May 21. Season 2 stars Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are set to appear that night on the 20th anniversary of their own finale.

The Top 5 for Season 21 Has Been Decided
During this week’s new live episode, the Top 8 performed for America’s votes. Ultimately, only five singers made it to the next round after covering songs by guest judges Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran.
At the end of Sunday’s episode, host Ryan Seacrest announced that the Top 5 singers were Zachariah Smith, Megan Danielle, Iam Tongi, Wé Ani, and Colin Stough. That meant that Haven Madison, Warren Peay, and Oliver Steele were eliminated.
