So You Think You Can Dance judge Leah Remini is proud of her decision to go back to university to study college. Remini, now age 52, is attending college at New York University.

Leah Remini is on Her Way to Finish College

In an Instagram post dated June 3, Remini reflected on her present educational journey. The Hollywood star stressed the gap years it took her to return to school, stating that she spent decades “in a cult.”

“Two years ago, I had an 8th-grade education thanks to spending 35 years in a cult,” Remini wrote. “And now, at age 52, I’ve successfully finished my second year at NYU.”

As revealed by Remini, going back to school is not a walk in the park. Furthermore, the SYTYCD judge said that she came to the point of backing out.

“Undertaking this educational journey has been one of the most difficult experience of my life. There have been days where I’ve thought about giving up,” she wrote.

The actress went on and stated that she’s glade she “decided to dive in” although she’s not done yet. Remini ended her post with words of encouragement to her followers.

“If you have the desire and capacity, please remember that it’s never too late to start again,” she wrote.

Remini has been in the entertainment industry for two decades, persisting to grow her career as the create and executive producer of Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath. Over the years, the actress has been hailed as an Emmy Award winner and a New York Times Best Selling author.

She Initially Refused to Join Dancing With The Stars

Apart from acting, Remini is also known for her time on both DWTS and So You Think You Can Dance. Interestingly though, Remini originally didn’t want to compete on the dancing reality series. Nonetheless, she eventually realized that she needed to get out of her comfort zone.

“If you’re never stretching yourself, you’re never really growing,” she said. “And I always said no to the show, and then I was like–you know with what I had done–I was like, I need to start doing things that I’m scared of, and this is the time to do it.”

According to Remini, joining the show allowed her to have new friends. She considers her DWTS journey as a “time of growth” and she found new strength and friends along the process.

“I thought it was gonna be much harder, but people have really come to my aid and I’m just filled with love and joy.”
