Snoop Dogg Supports Writers’ Strike in Streaming Rant
“Streaming got to get their sh*t together, ’cause I don’t understand how the f*ck you get paid off of that sh*t,” the rapper said. “Can somebody explain to me how you can get a billion streams and not get a million dollars? That sh*t don’t make sense to me.”
He went on to say that when he was first starting in the music industry, everything was based on the sale of physical copies. Snoop related this situation in the music industry to the Writers Guild of America’s current strike.
“The writers are striking because streaming,” Snoop said. “They can’t get paid, because when it’s on the platform, it’s not like in the box office … On streaming, you got 300,000 hours that somebody watched your movie. Where’s the money?”
Snoop acknowledged that he was “going off of script,” adding, “This is a room full of business people, and somebody may hear this and be able to do something about it, so that way the next artist don’t have to struggle or cry, or try to figure out how to get to his money.”

Snoop Also Shared His Thoughts on AI
During the same conversation, Snoop was also asked to share his thoughts on the use of AI, which is another issue being brought up by the writers’ strike. The rapper seemed mystified by the technology, saying it’s “blowing my mind.”
“I watched movies on this as a kid, years ago when I used to see this sh*t,” Snoop said. “Then I heard the old dude that created AI is talking about, ‘This is not safe, ’cause the AIs got their own minds. And these motherf*ckers gonna start doing their own sh*t.'”
He said it feels like we’re in a movie and wondered if he should invest in AI “so I can have one with me.” Snoop’s reaction to the technology made the audience laugh, as he admitted, “I’m lost. I don’t know.”
