Singer Stuns ‘The Voice’ With A Rock Cover Of Michael Jackson [VIDEO]
A singer on The Voice of Greece impressed the coaches in 2014 with his rock ‘n’ roll cover of a classic song by Michael Jackson. His name is Panos Vintzileos, and you’re definitely going to want to see his audition.
Panos turned all four coaches’ chairs with his take on the song. Check out his blind audition in the video below, and read on to find out what artist inspired this unique rendition.
Panos Vintzileos Auditions For ‘The Voice’
For his blind audition on The Voice of Greece, Panos performed “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. But it didn’t sound exactly like the original song, first released in 1982. Instead, Panos sang a rock version apparently inspired by Chris Cornell, the late Soundgarden singer.
Panos showed off a gritty, powerful voice. It didn’t take long for all four coaches to hit their buttons and turn around for a chance to have him on their team. The studio audience also loved the audition, applauding Panos as he sang.
The performance has earned even more fans over the years. “Best cover of Billie Jean I’ve ever heard!” wrote one person on YouTube. Another commented, “Michael Jackson would have been proud of this guy. Absolutely stunning.”
Where Is Panos Now?
Panos Vintzileos didn’t win The Voice of Greece, but he’s still making music. Panos is in a band called Pulse R. Check out their music video for “Remember Me” above. It’s off their 2016 album In Chains.
According to Instagram, the band is working on another album. In October, they posted that they were in the studio, and had finished bass recording. They also posted in November that they were missing the stage.
You can also check out Panos’ personal YouTube account, which includes a few live performances from him over the years. He seems to be a big Chris Cornell fan, as he’s covered several of his songs.
