America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell popped the big question to longtime girlfriend Lauren Silverman. Cowell proposed in Barbados while on vacation with his family on Christmas Eve in front of their seven year old son Eric, as well as his step son Adam Silverman.
Where Will the Wedding Take Place?
It’s official, Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman are officially engaged. Since notice of their engagement became public, Former Britain’s Got Talent judge, Amanda Holden, commented publicly on her Heart FM radio show. Holden shared that she was one of the first people to know. She said she received a text from the talent mogul saying “it’s happening” and she immediately couldn’t believe it.
“I have to say I’m probably as shocked as Lauren,” Holden jokes. “Simon said he would never get married and obviously Lauren has been by his side and you know they’ve been through so much together. I think she’s the one, but I don’t know if she ever thought he would put a ring on it.”
Holden hinted at the fact that their wedding may occur this year in Barbados. Within the video, she was clearly still in shock that Cowell proposed to Silverman. This is really a story for the ages considering Cowell had always said he didn’t believe in marriage.
Silverman Was Shocked Cowell Popped The Question
Since confirmation of Cowell’s engagement, sources have begun to reach out to publications to state what happened.
“Simon and Lauren are ridiculously, nauseatingly in love — incredibly, lockdown brought them closer than ever,” a source told The Sun. “Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears — happy tears — and obviously said ‘yes’ straight away.”
The source confirmed that this special moment occurred in front of the couples child, Eric, as well as Silverman’s son from her previous marriage, Adam. The source noted that Cowell felt it was important to have their children there for this moment.
“Whilst Simon never thought he was the marrying type, he’s realized he’s met the woman of his dreams — and couldn’t be happier,” the source said. “In the words of Beyoncé, it was time to put a ring on it.”
The source shared that Cowell’s decision to change his mind on marriage was based off of his life changing accident in 2020. For those who may not remember, the talent show mogul was testing out an electric bicycle in his backyard and ended up nearly paralyzed after breaking his back in multiple places. Cowell has admitted that he wouldn’t have gotten through the recovery process without his girlfriend and their son.
Thank you talent recap!
