Simon Cowell Hints at Possible ‘America’s Got Talent: Kids’ Spin-Off

During this week’s new episode of America’s Got Talent, Simon Cowell shared an idea for a possible spin-off featuring all kid performers. It has us wondering if AGT: Kids is really happening, and if Cowell’s son Eric might be involved.
Simon Cowell Shares Idea for AGT: Kids Spin-Off
Before 12-year-old singer Alfie Andrew took the stage during Tuesday’s episode of AGT Season 18, Cowell told his fellow judges that he thinks “kids are taking over” the show. He then shared an idea for a possible Got Talent spin-off.
“Maybe we should make a kids’ version of this show, with kid judges,” Cowell remarked.
Fellow judge Sofia Vergara commented that such a show “would be fun,” and Howie Mandel also seemed to like the idea. Later, as Alfie was preparing to start his performance, Cowell wondered, “Why can’t adults be like kids? Because kids are nicer than adults.”
It’s not clear if Cowell’s idea is just a bit of brainstorming, or if there are any concrete plans to make a kids’ spin-off happen. It certainly wouldn’t be the first kid-focused talent show, or the first AGT spin-off.

Could Cowell’s Son Be a Judge on the Show?
Cowell has a 9-year-old son named Eric who has visited the sets of both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent. In fact, he was recently on set when his dad was filming AGT Season 18, along with BGT judge Amanda Holden’s daughter.
In the past, Cowell has talked about the possibility of Eric following in his footsteps. He told The Sun in 2018 that he was “training him up” by bringing him to set, saying, “I would love him to take over. He’s really confident.”
Last year, Cowell told Loose Women that Eric is “normally right” about the acts on Got Talent, adding, “I have a good idea what he’s going to be when older. He’s got his own opinion and he’s his own man which is really important.”
