In case you missed it, American Idol Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery is going to be a dad. He and his wife Gabi recently announced that they’re expecting a baby boy. In a new interview, McCreery talked about what he’s looking forward to doing with his future son.
Scotty McCreery Talks About Expecting a Baby
McCreery recently appeared on the Rob + Holly Show podcast to discuss the recent news that he and his wife are expecting a baby boy. He called the pregnancy a “huge blessing” and said they’re “over halfway there.”
When asked what he’s most excited to do with his son, McCreery responded that he’d love to play sports like baseball, soccer, and golf with him. He added that he’d eventually like to give his son a guitar and see if he likes to play it.
“Whatever he wants to do is great,” the 28-year-old said. “But we might get him a few things … We’ll get him all the instruments, and whichever one he picks up and plays the most, we’ll go that route.”
The singer married Gabi Dugal, who is a pediatric nurse, in 2018. She recently told People that her career has “prepared me in many ways” for taking care of a baby.

McCreery Is Already Telling Dad Jokes
When the hosts asked McCreery if he’s “well-versed in dad jokes,” the country singer replied that he’s “got a few of them,” adding that “they just kind of come out.” He gave an example, recalling the time he talked about playing golf during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I was really obeying social distancing by staying in the woods the whole time looking for my golf balls,” he quipped. “I was like, ‘Ooh, that’s a little dad-jokey.'”
Since winning American Idol in 2011, Scotty McCreery has released five studio albums, most recently Same Truck in 2021. The singer is currently on his Same Truck Tour, with dates throughout North America for several months.
