American Idol host Ryan Seacrest might have another hosting gig lined up for the future, as he’s reportedly in talks to replace Pat Sajak on the game show Wheel of Fortune. Earlier this year, Seacrest left his position as co-host on Live with Kelly and Ryan.
Ryan Seacrest in Talks to Host Wheel of Fortune
TMZ reported earlier this week that Seacrest is a candidate to replace Sajak, with discussions in the early stages. Sources told the outlet that Seacrest has been talking to Sony about taking over the hosting job when Sajak retires.
Seacrest is reportedly not the only candidate for the role, although it’s unclear who else is in the running. TMZ also points out that Seacrest was friends with Wheel of Fortune‘s creator, the late Merv Griffin.
Earlier this week, Sajak announced he would be retiring from his role as host in 2024, after 41 seasons on the show. In a statement, Sajak shared that he’ll “have more to say in the coming months.”
Sajak’s longtime co-host Vanna White took to Twitter after he announced his retirement, writing, “I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come.”

Will Seacrest Still Host American Idol?
If Seacrest does end up hosting Wheel of Fortune, it makes us wonder how that might affect his longtime position as host of American Idol. He recently freed up some time by leaving Live with Kelly and Ryan, and he’s certainly known for keeping busy.
However, according to reports, Seacrest sparked health concerns as he tried to juggle all of his responsibilities, which also include hosting a radio show. One difference is that Wheel of Fortune films in California, whereas Live filmed in New York. That would limit Seacrest’s travel.
Season 42 of Wheel of Fortune won’t air until the fall of 2024, so Seacrest can still host one more season of American Idol before then. But we wouldn’t be surprised if he manages to fit both shows into his schedule.
