Dancing with the Stars Season 34 contestant Robert Irwin recently shared a video from his first day of rehearsals on the show. Watching over him while he starts his dancing journey is his sister Bindi Irwin, who won Season 21 of the show.

Robert Irwin Starts Dancing with the Stars Rehearsals

Robert Irwin is one of four celebrities whose participation in DWTS Season 34 was officially revealed by the show ahead of this week’s official cast announcement. Last week, he posted a pair of photos on Instagram from the show’s set, writing that rehearsals had begun and he was “equal parts excited and sore.”

He later shared a video from the rehearsal room, explaining that he was practicing the dance for his first week — without revealing which pro dancer he’s been paired with. While filming himself in the mirror, Irwin showed a photo on the wall in which his sister Bindi Irwin can be seen celebrating her Mirrorball win.

“Setting the bar very high,” Irwin said of his sister’s past win. “So proud of you, Bindi.”

In the post’s caption, Irwin wrote, “My mirrorball champ sister ‘watching’ me while I rehearse… no pressure.” Bindi herself replied to the post, writing, “You. Got. This. Cheering for you always!!”

What Advice Did Bindi Irwin Give Her Brother?

Robert Irwin’s sister Bindi won Season 21 of DWTS in 2015, alongside her partner Derek Hough, who now serves as a judge on the show. In a recent interview with TV Insider, Irwin opened up about the advice his sister gave him ahead of Season 34.

“The thing she really stressed is just be yourself and make it your own,” Irwin told the oulet. “I go into this with such pride and admiration for what Bindi did on the show, and I’m not trying in any way to match what she did. She is just the most incredible human being and just lit up the dance floor so, so incredibly well. She was just amazing. I just want to bring a bit of that Irwin spirit back into the ballroom.”

He added that his sister told him to “give it 100%” while still making sure to “sit back and enjoy every second.” As he said, “So that’s what I’m going to do. I want to give it my all but really try and revel in it and enjoy every second because it’s something that is a one-of-a-kind experience, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

The full DWTS Season 34 cast is set to be announced September 3 on Good Morning America. The show will officially premiere September 16 on ABC and Disney+.
