The reigning ballroom champion Daniella Karagach will no longer be performing during the Dancing With the Stars live tour. The professional dancer left the tour following an on stage injury. During one of the last dances of the night Karagach broke her ankle.
Karagach took to Instagram on Thursday afternoon to share the news of her departure from the tour. The photo features her sitting in a wheelchair with a leg covered with a cast. The dancer is smiling in the photo and holding up a thumbs up. Behind her stands her husband and fellow DWTS pro Pasha Pashkov.

The professional dancer’s caption directly thanked Dancing With the Stars, but didn’t give much information on her accident. On Karagach’s Instagram stories, she shared multiple videos explaining what happened. She began by saying that this all occurred during a group number during Wednesday night’s show.
“I guess my body is just very fatigued at this point and just silly mistakes started happening for me,” Karagach said. “Yesterday during our second to last number with Alan [Bersten] I did one of the scissor kicks that I do and I landed on my ankle and fell straight to the floor.”
Karagach Hopes to Recover Without Surgery
She described the pain as something she had never experienced before, noting that she immediately knew something was wrong. The dancer then shared that Bersten lifted her and took her off the stage when he noticed she was in pain.
The group’s physical therapist and security got her into a wheelchair and into an Uber. Karagach went straight to the emergency room and recalls that she was crying because of the intense pain. After x rays, doctors told Karagach that her ankle was broken. Following her emergency room visit she went to another doctor that ordered an MRI. The MRI will be used to determine if she needs surgery.
At this time, Karagach is praying for a speedy recovery for the time being. She’s in a boot and is currently learning how to walk on crunches in her home. Pashkov drove back to their home with her after the injury and has since returned to the ballroom with the dancing trope. His parents are now taking care of her while he finishes out the tour.
“For now I’m just waiting to get the MRI done and hopefully all is good and I just need to heal my fracture best case scenario,” Karagach said.
This injury occurred eight days before the conclusion of Dancing With the Stars Live tour. Fans of the series are hoping that Karagach recovers quickly and is able to hit the ballroom for the upcoming season 31 of Dancing With the Stars. ABC hasn’t confirmed the long running series to return in the fall, but fans expect the show to air in September.
