Priyanka Chopra Was Shocked When Nick Jonas Proposed
Nick proposed to Priyanka after just two months of dating in 2018. “I didn’t expect the proposal at that point… It was two months!” Priyanka told Elle, adding, “I thought it would happen, but it was still a complete shock.”
“I relinquished control and I just went with it,” Priyanka explained of her decision to accept Nick’s proposal. She said the two of them had been “sporadically meeting” and texting each other for two years.
Priyanka said there was a part of her that “wanted something serious,” but she was on “a hiatus from guys.” However, she said there was “something about Nick” that made her stay in touch with him.
“One thing to know about my husband is that when he makes up his mind, he’ll get what he wants!” Priyanka said. “When he knows, he knows. There’s such a sublime confidence to it that you can’t help but be like, ‘OK.'”
Priyanka And Nick Have Matching Tattoos
Did you know that Priyanka and Nick have matching tattoos? Behind Priyanka’s ears, and on the back of Nick’s arms, they have small tattoos of boxes and tick marks. They got them after one year of marriage.
“When we got engaged, Nick told me I checked all his boxes,” Priyanka explained. “So on the one-year anniversary of our engagement, we got matching tattoos to celebrate that: mine behind my ears, his on his arm – it’s a check on one side and a box on the other.”
The couple had a wedding in Priyanka’s home country of India in 2018. The actress shared, “India loves Nick and Nick loves India.” She added that people call him “national jiju,” meaning brother-in-law, and he listens to Bollywood music as his “hype music.”
Although their busy lives often keep them apart for periods of time, Priyanka says they made it a priority to see each other. “Wherever we are in the world, we fly to each other at least once a month for a couple of days,” Priyanka said. “It was our rule when we first got married. Otherwise we’d never see each other.”
