People Are Comparing TikTok Food Critic Keith Lee to Gordon Ramsay

Keith Lee has over 14 million followers on TikTok, where he posts food reviews. Recently, his food tour of Atlanta sparked criticism. People on social media are comparing Lee to Gordon Ramsay to point out a double standard.

TikTok Star Keith Lee Receives Backlash for Atlanta Food Tour
Lee and his family recently visited Atlanta for a food tour. The TikTok star was honest about the service he received at restaurants such as The Real Milk and Honey and Old Lady Gang (owned by Kandi Burress). According to Rolling Stone, Lee has received backlash and threats for his videos.
“There was so much positive in Atlanta that was shunned by the negative,” Lee said in a video. “I’m going to be 100 percent honest. If you want me to come, please understand I will be honest.”
To avoid being recognized and given special treatment, Lee sends his family into restaurants first. At both of the aforementioned restaurants, employees offered to seat him before other guests when they realized he was there. He declined.
“I’m going to be 100 percent transparent, 100 percent candid, me and my family will postpone touring if other cities are going to be like this,” Lee said of how his Atlanta experience affected him. “Every review [is] not going to be the best.”

People Are Comparing Lee to Gordon Ramsay
Users on X (formerly Twitter) have come to Lee’s defense in the days since the controversy. Many of them have compared Lee to infamous celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, whose show Kitchen Nightmares features him visiting failing restaurants and offering his scorching critiques.
People pointed out that, unlike Ramsay, Lee is polite and respectful when offering his opinions about restaurants. He even discouraged his followers from expressing negative reactions toward the restaurants he criticized.
“So when Gordon Ramsey went around telling restaurants they suck, it was ‘entertainment’. But when Keith Lee does it, politely, it’s an issue?” wrote one user.
Another user wrote, “Gordon Ramsay could’ve insulted the chef, cussed out the owner, planted a roach in the kitchen and called the health department to get the place shut down and wouldn’t have gotten half the backlash Keith Lee is getting rn.”
